Blog #5 - Digital Story

This digital story is about the Tsuut’ina people who are located here in Alberta, just southwest of Calgary (and about an 8-minute drive from MRU). This digital story explores the history of the Tsuut’ina people before and during European contact, examines a timeline of schooling, and how the Tsuut'ina community uses technology to support learning through a revitalization language program. I also describe what I’ve learned about the Tsuut’ina people and how I can incorporate this knowledge into my future teaching practices.

I had a lot of fun creating this digital story especially researching a local Indigenous community here in Alberta. I also loved exploring Screencastify to create my story; I would love to incorporate this tool in my future classrooms or even future assignments!

Blog #4 - Coding for Kids

I would love to use this lesson plan in the future, no matter what grade. I think my lesson plan can be modified easily to match any grade. In grades 1-2, students are able to practice their addition and subtraction. In grades 3 and up, students are able to work on multiplication and division. It is a great practice tool for students to strengthen their fundamental math skills while playing a fun game racing animals through space. I also added elements of fun into my Scratch game like different animals and putting Space as my background to make it more engaging with students. I think it's important to have that element of excitement in something like multiplication and division because most students might not find these concepts fun or exciting.
